Last year saw the second Heritage Day, which attracted a record number of visitors when it was linked with the Maidstone & District 100th anniversary celebrations. It also included an excellent 50 tractors. Last year also saw some 8,000 people attend this one-day event and the enthusiastic Heritage Committee and the organisers of M&D100 are now planning the 2012 event together. Besides the ‘Maidstone & District – East Kent 60th Anniversary’ the Maidstone and District - East Kent Bus Club will celebrate the Diamond Jubilee with special displays of their fleets. Besides the commercial vehicles all tractor clubs are welcome to exhibit inside and outside with their stands, individual enthusiasts can bring all types of tractors to the event. The special tractor theme will be Massey Ferguson 35s, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the introduction of the 35X. It is intended to have a parade for the tractors around the perimeter roads as well. The event takes place on 31 March and is to be promoted by Kelsey Publishing, publishers of a large number of specialist monthly vehicle titles. There is also to be an auction of vehicles, literature, bygones and parts organised by Lambert and Foster in association with Kelsey Publishing, for further details, tel: 01959 541444. In addition to the tractors, trucks and PSVs there will be a special Diamond Jubilee celebration for the MGB Roadster.
